Customs Delays, Shorter Lead Times, and Oversized Bolts Delivered Fast
If you’ve read our earlier Metric Miracles blogs (Chapter 1 and Chapter 2), you know the pattern: a hard-to-find metric fastener, a tight deadline, and a sourcing challenge that needs more than a standard quote.
That is where Eurolink comes in.
Chapter 3 highlights three more real-world examples from 2026 where exact specs, European sourcing, and the right freight strategy helped keep customers moving. Because at Eurolink, we’re made for moments like this.
When Large Metric Bolts Beat Domestic Lead Time
A distributor in Texas needed M30 x 440 DIN 931 Class 8.8 steel hex head cap screws. Quantity: five pieces.
These were not common stock parts, and they were definitely not small. We quoted the RFQ the same day, received the PO, and placed the order on the next FASTER weekly air freight shipment from Europe.
The bolts arrived at Eurolink in less than one week once they shipped. The alternative was domestic manufacturing with an estimated lead time of four to five weeks or longer.
The takeaway:
When a customer needs large, hard-to-find metric bolts quickly, Europe can sometimes be the faster option.
When Customs Delays a Sea Freight Order
One of our industrial distribution customers in the Great Lakes region sent us an RFQ for 4,000 pieces of M6 x 12 DIN 933 plastic/nylon screws. We quoted it the same day, received the PO the same day, and placed it on our FAST consolidated sea freight program.
Everything was on schedule until U.S. Customs selected the container for intensive inspection.
The delay was outside our control, but the customer still needed screws on time. So we contacted our European supplier, secured replacement inventory, and moved it onto our next FASTER weekly consolidated air freight shipment.
The replacement stock arrived at Eurolink, and the next day the screws were on their way to the customer.
What this proves:
Customers do not order explanations. They order parts. Sometimes keeping our word means solving a problem we did not create.
When an 8 to 10 Week Lead Time Becomes 5 Weeks
A repeat customer from Georgia sent us an RFQ for 50,000 pieces of Ø10mm ISO 7084 100HV steel zinc-plated washers. We quoted the order quickly, but by the time the PO was approved, our supplier was sold out, and the new lead time was 8 to 10 weeks.
The customer chose to move forward and requested shipment through our FASTER weekly air freight program as soon as inventory became available.
Then the lead time changed again. Instead of 8 to 10 weeks, the washers were back in stock in about 5 weeks. They made our Week 24 air freight shipment, arrived at Eurolink, and shipped out right away.
Why this matters:
Lead times change. Inventory shifts. The key is working with a supplier who stays close enough to the order to move quickly as soon as an opportunity opens up.
Why These Metric Miracles Matter
These stories are different, but the reason customers call Eurolink stays the same. They need a supplier who can:
- Quote exact DIN and ISO fasteners
- Source hard-to-find metric products
- Adjust freight strategy when timing changes
- Move quickly without losing sight of the spec
That is what Eurolink is built to do.
Our FAST, FASTER, and FASTEST freight programs exist because every job has different timing, budget, and urgency. Some orders fit sea freight. Some need weekly air freight. Some need the fastest possible solution.
We’re Made for Moments Like This
